Memorial Day

Memorial Day
Memorial Day is a day on which those who died in active military service are remembered, traditionally observed on May 30 but now officially observed on the last Monday in May. Memorial Day is at the end of the month of May. A few ways to show honor on this day is to walk with the American flag and march showing respect to our troops that died during the time of war. What I would do on this day is to celebrate with family members and show honor and respect to our troops by doing the solute and the pledge of allegiance.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
Habit 1: Be proactive
“Habit 1 is the key to unlocking all other habits and that’s why it comes first. It says,” I am the captain of my life. I can choose my attitude. I’m responsible for my own happiness or unhappiness. I am in the driver’s seat of my destiny, not just a passenger.”

No one else is going to get you where you want to go, it’s up to you. Take ownership of your problems, and realize that nobody else is going to solve them for you. The most effective way to handle a problem is to focus on finding a solution. Focusing on things that are out of your control is a waste of time, so focus on what you can control with the final outcome. Some people’s approach to achieving goals is both simple and effective: set your goal and then work backwards from that goal to establish metrics to track and evaluate it. It’s important to have a clearly defined goal that is quantifiable so you can determine if you actually reached it or not. Be humble and take a hard look at what you are doing and how you are doing it. Be completely honest with yourself about what is not working instead of making excuses.

Habit 2: Begin with the end in mind
“Control your own destiny or someone else will”

The physical creation follows the mental, just as a building follows a blueprint. It's about connecting again with your own uniqueness and then defining the personal, moral, and ethical guidelines within which you can most happily express and fulfill yourself. Begin with the End in Mind means to begin each day, task, or project with a clear vision of your desired direction and destination, and then continue by flexing your proactive muscles to make things happen. It focuses on what you want to be and do. It is your plan for success. It reaffirms who you are, puts your goals in focus, and moves your ideas into the real world. Your mission statement makes you the leader of your own life. You create your own destiny and secure the future you envision.

Habit 3: Put First Things First
“Organize and execute around priorities”

You have to recognize that not doing everything that comes along is okay. There's no need to overextend yourself. All it takes is realizing that it's all right to say no when necessary and then focus on your highest priorities. Everybody has tasks s/he does not like. Recognizing when these tasks are so important they have become ‘the first thing’ and doing them first is what disciplined people do. But being disciplined is also about not doing tasks when they do not have priority. You should question yourself regularly whether the matter you are turning your attention to is urgent or important, or maybe both. Realize that whenever you say ‘yes’ to one thing, you will no longer have time for something else. Time is the most valuable and least replaceable of all resources.

Habit 4: Think Win-Win
“Think win-win or no deal”

Think Win-Win isn’t about being nice, nor is it a quick-fix technique. It is a character-based code for human interaction and collaboration. Win-win requires that you be both. It is a balancing act between courage and consideration. To go for win-win, you not only have to be empathic, but you also have to be confident. You not only have to be considerate and sensitive, you also have to be brave. To do that–to achieve that balance between courage and consideration–is the essence of real maturity and is fundamental to win-win. The opportunities over here are as big as all outdoors…and each hour of each day, the task will grow easier, and more satisfying – for all of us.

Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, then to be understood
“Diagnose before you prescribe.”

Things are not your problem and yet you immediately associate the problem with your own experiences and before you know you blurt out an advice. Check how you react to people during the next ten times you encounter someone. The reason for this is that the perception others have of you changes when you listen emphatically. Your friends, colleagues, and family will start experiencing you as an open person, and hence will start opening up themselves to you. After you find out how you are currently doing, it is time to decide where you will focus on. You can take one of the four keys of empathetic listening, and every time someone uses the word ‘problem’ or ‘issue’ or ‘can you help me’, this is your cue to implement your new way of listening and reacting.

Habit 6: Synergize
“The whole is greater than the sum of its parts (1+1=3)”
Synergize is the habit of creative cooperation. It is teamwork, open-mindedness, and the adventure of finding new solutions to old problems. But it doesn't just happen on its own. It's a process, and through that process, people bring all their personal experience and expertise to the table. When people begin to interact together genuinely, and they’re open to each other’s influence, they begin to gain new insight. The capability of inventing new approaches is increased exponentially because of differences. We could enlarge the conversation. Draw others in from different professions and cultures. The very tangible set of benefits that would emerge would grow.

Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw
Four Dimensions of Self-Renewal: Physical, Mental, Spiritual,  Social/Environmental

Sharpen The Saw discusses self-renewal, self-care, self-respect and self-improvement. Sharpening The Saw must be balanced across these four 'dimensions'... otherwise an imbalance will be created. We can offset an imbalance for a while, but not long-term. When organizations ignore four-dimensional balance, inefficiencies, defensiveness and lack of synergy ensues creating a loss in productively, customer satisfaction and ultimately profitability. Sharpening The Saw is an ongoing process of personal change -- not something you can binge -- like your favorite TV show. You need to define your own balanced, four-dimensional life to be successful! If you are a leader, I believe part of your role is to help the people who report into you and/or look up to you, explore these dimensions and establish goals for themselves.

Reflection: 7 habits of Highly Effective People

Be proactive when you are outside with others to show your good personality and make your body more energetic into the athletic activities. Begin with the End in Mind means to begin each day, task, or project with a clear vision of your desired direction and destination, and then continue by flexing your proactive muscles to make things happen. All it takes is realizing that it's all right to say no when necessary and then focus on your highest priorities. Think Win-Win isn’t about being nice, nor is it a quick-fix technique. Things are not your problem and yet you immediately associate the problem with your own experiences and before you know you blurt out an advice. Synergize is the habit of creative cooperation. Sharpening The Saw must be balanced across these four 'dimensions'... otherwise an imbalance will be created.

Three fundamental Techniques in Handling People

Three fundamental Techniques in Handling People
Technique 1:Don’t criticize, condemn or complain

When dealing with people, we’re not dealing with creatures of logic.  We are dealing with creatures of emotion; creatures bristling with prejudices and motivated by pride and vanity. As much as we thirst for approval, we dread condemnation. Wrongdoers blame everybody but themselves.  The person we’re going to condemn and correct will probably justify him or herself, and condemn us in return. Someone said this,” “Criticism is futile because it puts a person on the defensive and usually makes him strive to justify himself. Criticism is dangerous, because it wounds a person’s precious pride, hurts his sense of importance, and arouses resentment.” To apply this technique I will try not to provoke anyone against me and be calm to others.

Technique 2: Give honest and sincere appreciation
“The big secret in dealing with people”

Honest and sincere appreciation is the most effective tool used sparingly by the majority of people. The effectiveness of this tool has been undermined by many due to various reasons. There are many issues when it comes to appreciating someone. While your inner self might be thumping out loud to go ahead and appreciate, the other part of your mind holds back you so strongly that you lose all courage at the time. To give honest and sincere appreciation you need to do think of the person and not any of the negatives about him/her, tell the person that you appreciate the act, try to relate it to an incident and how the act has surpassed all expectations, and thank them again for the much-appreciated thing. These are some ways to make the person feel appreciated. I always appreciate people and my parents when they give me things that will help me later on.

Technique 3: Arouse in the other person an eager want
“He who can do this has the whole world with him. He who cannot, walks a lonely way.”

Understanding the other person and what they want, hope for, desire – what motivates them – is key. It’s not about YOU, it’s about them. If making more money is your thing that’s not necessarily someone else’s carrot. The same could be said for title or position. Not everyone wants to be a VP, company owner, head coach or some other highly visible position. For some people that motivation is easily seen and tapped into but when it comes to others you have to pay close attention. For some people the motivation is a sense of belonging, knowing they’re making a difference, family, hobbies, etc. Sometimes making something seem special, something not many people can have, or do, is what does the trick. To handle these type of people you must not criticize, condemn or complain, give honest, sincere appreciation, and arouse in the other person an eager want. Choose the right.

Reflection

Well first of all I will try to follow technique one because if you don’t criticize people you won’t get commented back and you won’t have any problems to deal with and no need to argue. Be a positive thinking trying to help others out in problems there in and not criticizing them. Being honest is the main key to success because many people would want to hear the truth and not the lie. Being honest makes other people feel calm and make the person believe you in some way. Always make the other person feel happy on many ways so that they can succeed in life and be proud of them. I will not criticize no one because there is no reason to, always be honest because no one likes to hear lies and regret giving you opportunities, and also make people happy and make them succeed in life.

The Six Attitudes of High Achievers

“The Six Attitudes of High Achievers”

-John R. Noe
High Achievers……

1. Make no small plans
You shouldn’t make small plans because if you want to succeed more in your future you must think higher. When you make little plans you can finish it in one day and it won’t be as fun. When you bigger plans you think more, you do more, and you won’t finish it in one day which is good because it’s a big plan. You want to challenge yourself so that in the future you would be ready to go and won’t need to do as much work people do now. Always think big so that you can achieve bigger things and have a better life.

2. Do what you fear
It is better to do what you fear because the subject or item or discussion you fear of might happen again but you never know when. You should face your fear by not doing the same mistakes that led you there and be bold. Be confident about yourself because that’s what takes higher and higher in life. Be the type of person that can do things without having any type of trouble and be a leader as well. Facing your fears is what makes you a better person. Be strong and be positive every day in your life.

3. Are Willing To Prepare
Before someone goes to a higher grade every student or child prepares for it. Why? It’s because you don’t want to be the person that is behind and is missing a lot of work and has to catch up. When we prepare ourselves we will be on track and not stay behind. It’s better to be prepared because sometimes when you don’t prepare you want to get a whole load of work or papers in front of you and not knowing where to put them. Preparing yourself for school and work you will success and proceed and be ahead of others maybe but stay prepared. There are challenges in the world that one must face. Be prepares and choose the right.

4. Are willing to risk failure
Success is found by those who are willing to fail. If you are one who is not willing to fail in a particular area of life, you will make sure that you have no opportunities to fail. Focus on accepting failure as a part of trying. You want to succeed in life. Its good to make failures because from that people know that you are learning little by little. You must avoid anything that will prevent you from succeeding in life. Take risk to achieve you goal in the future.

5.  Are teachable

Everyone must be willing to learn new things because then how will you succeed. When you are willing to learn something you will become successful. Why? The reason why is that when you want to learn something so that once you learn it than you make a living with it. For example how do you get your profession? Well you learn what you want to learn and with that info in your brain, that topic you learned for days, weeks, months, or maybe years will get you a job and in that job you will be successful. You must be willing to learn because if not what would you be in the future.

6. Have Heart

It’s good to have a heart meaning have feelings for others that will need something to happen in their lives. Sometimes when you do good things to others you might feel something that you will be proud of and might want to keep doing it. Be a good person and if not people will judge you and you don’t want that. Having a heart like that will help you live longer but you want to been known as someone special and know who you really are. Be a somebody with that heart of yours. Always choose the right and be positive and help others who are in need of a good heart.

Reflection

I believe that all these 6 attitudes of high achievers will help me in the future and make me proceed. If I use every attitude every day of my life I myself think that I will have an easy life. I want to be a high achiever and I have to do so much that it takes time as well and need to have a lot of patience so that I don’t give up easily.

9 Ways to be happy and make something of your life

Way to be
9 Ways to be happy and make something of your life
~Gordon B. Hinckley

1. Be grateful

To be grateful you must be an active and happy person. The word grateful means: feeling or showing an appreciation of kindness; thankful. A quote that represents grateful is,” the vibration of gratitude attracts more positive things into your life.”  An example of grateful would be when someone sees that you are a little bit short on money and someone in the line helps you pay the rest of your groceries. That person is being grateful to you. Be happy.
2. Be Smart
Anyone in the world is smart and you may think they are not. Being smart makes you be an active person and solve problems like in school situations or class materials. Being smart will help you proceed in life. Why? It will help you in life because when you grow up you might invent something new that no one else ever thought of. Learning new things about vehicles or technology or even how to build a little house, your smartness will lead you there but it takes time and patience and also you need to be disciplined. It’s good to be smart and you need to push yourself if you want
to be smart.

3. Be involved in Good Works

When you get involved in good works many great things happen even to you. An example, you see people trying to help put up a poster and they can’t put it where they want it to be. You can help them out by asking “May I help” and for sure they will say yes and that is being part of good works, instead of stealing or doing drugs wasting time and not doing something great in life. Choose the right help those who need it and be grateful.

4. Be Clean
Being clean is a big responsibility especially if you live alone or have your own room. Being clean will make things easier for you when you need something for school or work and you would already know where it’s going to be. When you are clean even your house you’ll live happy and never have to think of being a mess in life. You will be more productive and more relaxed.

5. Be True
Being true to yourself is better than lying to your own self and feel bad at the same time. Being true to yourself is better because you don’t want to be the person that gets left out on all the fun. You would want to participate in fun class activities but lying to yourself won’t let you have fun and participate. Be true to yourself.

6. Be Positive

Being positive is the best way to live your life. Being positive on a bad day is good because you can change everything with the positive attitude. For example your boss yells at you but you ask him gently why he yelled at you he might explain but just in case take him a treat that will change his attitude. When you play a soccer game you get frustrated but if you are positive knowing that you can win the game if you all stay positive you will win the game. Play together and have fun stay in a positive attitude and great things will happen. I do a lot of positive things. When I’m in a positive attitude I do many things to others especially when they need help. When you’re positive your body is full of energy that can be transferred by greeting someone or helping someone. I’m positive every day because even if it’s a bad day I always find a way out of it.

7. Be Humble

This is the best thing I am good at being humble. There will always be that person that is older than you and think that they can boss you around. If they are an adult especially a women just be humble. Being humble means having or showing a modest or low estimate of one's own importance. If they tell you things you shouldn’t be doing just be calm ignore what that person says and just respond in a calm way. There is no need to have an argument with that type of person so might as well save time and move on. For example me, I am in a music group and since there is two bass players which is me and the lady she thinks she knows everything and could get things done and rubs it on my face. What I do is that I listen, look around and just be like whatever’s especially when she tells me what not to do. Once she leaves I am happy with the others and ignore what the person says. That is my way of being humble I act innocent and ignore.

8. Be Still
Being still helps you calm yourself down when you are in a bad mood. When I’m in a bad mood I stay still and just continue doing homework or watch videos that takes your mind off things. When your still you live more calmly and you die of anger at a young age because when you get mad a lot you can die from it. I stay still when I need to focus and its because if you hurry you won’t get anything wrong and when you are still you get to relax and not rush at something that can be done in less than an hour. Be still to live a longer, healthier, stronger life.

9. Be Prayerful

Reflection
There is many ways to be happy but these 9 are one the main ones. Each topic/ways of being happy everyday help someone every single day when they have a bad day or good day. When you’re happy you make someone else happy which is good. Being happy can change someone’s way of living in this world. Always choose the right and be happy and cheer up others.

Caring

Caring

A new attribute is caring and the meaning for it is: displaying kindness and concern for others. A good quote that I like is,” nothing can wear you out like caring about people”. Caring for someone feels great and it also makes you go through a little problem but you still are happy. When you care for someone that person will care for you and there will be a connection between both. For example me I care for girlfriend who I met in 9th grade and I still care for her now and it makes me happy to see her happy. Always helping each other out when we need help.
